Atebubu, (Bono East) May 22, GNA-The Atebubu Pragya Cooperative Transport Society, an umbrella organisation for tricycle riders has been launched to promote the welfare of the pragya riders.
According to Mr Ernest Agyei, the Chairman of the Society, the society was formed to bring the riders together and to identify and address emerging challenges in the sector.
Speaking at a ceremony at Atebubu in the Bono Region, he said the society had 89 members, saying that: “We have come together to promote economic, social and cultural interest of the members”.
He expressed the hope that members of the society would comply with road safety regulations and to bring sanity on the roads.
The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Julius Akpelime lauded the formation of the society and advised the society to sensitize the members on road safety to reduce crashes on the roads.
He advised those who had no riding license to acquire one to facilitate the growth of their economic activities and the society in general.
The society later inducted new executives into office.
