Accra, May 08, GNA – Some residents of Anyaa in Accra have expressed concern over persistent power outages, saying the situation is disrupting their daily lives and affecting economic activities.
Madam Salomey A. Kabutey, a resident, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that frequent power fluctuations often damaged electrical appliances, resulting in high repair and replacement costs.
She said unreliable electricity supply also affected food preservation, leading to spoilage and increased household expenses.
Madam Serwaa Adom, another resident, said some households and businesses had resorted to the use of diesel generators to maintain operations.
According to her, the high cost of fuel made the situation financially burdensome for many residents.
Residents said the frequent outages had caused frustration and negatively affected businesses, household routines, and productivity.
They attributed the disruptions to ongoing infrastructure challenges and technical faults within the electricity distribution system.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) recently reported faults in parts of Accra West, including transformer breakdowns and burnt electricity poles, which led to unannounced outages in some communities.
