Anlo professionals launch “The Action Room” for community development

Accra, May 17, GNA – Professionals from Anlo Afiadenyigba in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region have inaugurated a team of facilitators, commissioners, and commissions of “The Action Room,” a community-driven initiative aimed at promoting sustainable development in the area. 

The inauguration ceremony, held at Keta on Friday, was on the theme: “Mobilising professionals for the sustainable development of Anlo-Afiadenyigba.” 

The initiative brought together professionals and indigenes from diverse fields, including education, health, agriculture, engineering, tourism, business and public service, to mobilise expertise, resources and networks for the development of the community. 

“The Action Room,” officially launched on April 4, 2026, is being spearheaded by a seven-member facilitation team, led by Prof. Edem Kwasi Bakah.  

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Bakah,   underscored the importance of unity, innovation and collective responsibility in advancing the development agenda of the town. 

“As professionals both at home and abroad, we need to contribute our quota for the sustainable development of the community. This will ensure a lasting legacy beyond our personal accomplishments,” he said. 

Fifteen commissions were inaugurated to oversee various development sectors, including education, health, infrastructure, tourism, sanitation, agriculture, youth empowerment, economic development, security and conflict resolution, and resource mobilisation. 

Mr Chris Foli, an agri-business consultant and Commissioner for Resource Mobilisation, said the success of the initiative depended on the collective support of all indigenes and stakeholders. 

He appealed to residents to cooperate in securing lands for development projects to facilitate the transformation agenda of the town. 

Apostle Togbi Kadzahlo Drabese IV, Dufia of Anlo Afiadenyigba, expressed appreciation to the initiators of the project and announced the full endorsement of the initiative by the traditional leadership of the community. 

“Unity in our town is vital to ensure our collective growth,” he stated, urging the facilitators and commissioners to discharge their duties with dedication and courage. 

The inauguration formally empowers the various commissions to begin work towards unlocking the development potential of Anlo Afiadenyigba for present and future generations. 

Anlo Afiadenyigba is a coastal community in the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region noted for its rich cultural heritage and communal spirit.  

The local economy is largely driven by fishing, farming, salt mining and kente weaving, which remains one of the traditional occupations in the area.
