Agona Nyakrom (C/R), May 4, GNA – The Omanhene of Agona Nyakrom, Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X, urged affluent citizens to support unemployed youth by helping them secure jobs in public and private sectors to reduce families’ financial burdens across the community.

He emphasized that it is the responsibility of citizens to ensure that the youth are gainfully employed so they can contribute meaningfully to the development of the town.

The Omanhene made this appeal while addressing the Annual General Meeting of the Agona Nyakrom Mpontu Kuo at Nyakrom in the Agona West Municipality of the Central Region.

He commended members of the Association for their unity, mutual understanding, and dedication to the development of the area.

Highlighting ongoing development efforts, he mentioned projects aimed at improving education and healthcare, including the construction of male and female wards at the Nyakrom Health Centre.

Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X also appealed to members to support the purchase of a plot of land behind the Nyakrom Police Station for the construction of residential quarters for police personnel to enhance security in the community.

He further called on the Agona West Municipal Assembly to collaborate with the Association to complete an ongoing police station project to enable the Police Administration to deploy more personnel to the area.

Mr. George Nkrumah, Chairman of the Association, revealed that the group had adopted a two-year policy plan to work closely with the Agona West Municipal Assembly to upgrade the Nyakrom Health Centre to a polyclinic status, which would allow for the posting of a medical doctor to manage the facility.

He noted that the Association is engaging stakeholders to improve sanitation, education, and other social amenities to enhance the living standards of residents.

Mr. Nkrumah commended the pioneers of the Association for their vision and leadership, which have resulted in numerous development projects and programmes in the town.

He added that the executive committee is collaborating with stakeholders to address noise pollution, which has become a major concern for residents.

Additionally, the Association has introduced skills training programmes and created opportunities to support youth employment and reduce unemployment.

Mr. Nkrumah stated that members both at home and abroad have committed to providing infrastructure and financial support to Nyakrom Senior High and Technical School and Siddiqq SHS. This initiative aims to motivate teachers to offer extra tuition and improve academic performance.

He added that authorities of Nyakrom basic schools have requested similar support, which is currently under consideration.
