Bechem (Ahafo), May 6, GNA – About 15 pregnant girls and 10 nursing mothers are among candidates writing the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region.

The Ahafo Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr. Yaw Frimpong, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Bechem.

He said 60 candidates, comprising 33 males and 27 females, had so far failed to show up at various examination centres to write the BECE. According to him, the directorate had not received any information or reasons for their absence.

Mr. Frimpong noted that a total of 12,479 candidates were registered to sit for the examination in the region. He commended the conduct of candidates, supervisors, and invigilators so far.

He added that the directorate had intensified monitoring and supervision to curb examination malpractice and other potential infractions, urging candidates to maintain discipline throughout the examination period.
