Tema, April 9, GNA – The Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) has donated an undisclosed cash amount to the Tema Traditional Council (TTC) towards the 2026 Kpelejoo Festival.
The donation was to support cultural heritage, foster unity, and maintain good relationships with the traditional authorities.


Madam Ebi Bright, the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, who presented the cash on behalf of the assembly. said the donation was to highlight the assembly’s commitment to support cultural traditions and to ensure a peaceful coexistence of residents during these celebrations.
Madam Bright cautioned the youth and traditional authorities to avoid actions that could tarnish the image of their communities, emphasizing that festivals should be celebrated in moderation without casualties.
She urged the Tema Traditional Council to ensure that Kpelejoo Festival is celebrated peacefully to promote cultural heritage, unity, development, and stability rather than conflict.
She said: “The youth and traditional authorities should avoid actions that could tarnish the image of their communities,” emphasizing that, “festivals should be celebrated in moderation without casualties and should rather enhance tourism in Tema.”


Nii Adjetey Agbo II, the Tema Mankralo and acting President of the Tema Traditional Council, receiving the donation on behalf of the council, expressed appreciation to the TMA for the contribution towards the upcoming Kpelejoo Festival to promote social development.
He said the Kpelejoo Festival is highlighted as a vital medium for showcasing the rich cultural values of the Ga people, fostering community pride and attracting tourists.
