Bolgatanga, April 12, GNA- The Anglican Bishop of Tamale, Right Reverend Dennis Dabukari Tong has bemoaned extravagant lifestyle exhibited by Christians especially those who fake such lives.
“Avoid fake life as Christians. Christians are charged to build and not to destroy, Rt Rev Tong said.
The bishop condemned the act of fake life while preaching the sermon at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Parish in Bolgatanga, and indicated that Christians were charged to show humility, love for humanity and nature, and be real in the discharge of their Christian assignments.
He assured members of the congregation that, the “Christian hope is not just for this world; sometimes it is beyond the things of the world. That is why we have to be cautious in living lives that are not real. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and the rest shall manifest to you.”
Bishop Tong said the memory of Christ death which atoned for sins of the world was not a mistake, but a deliberate act by God who so loved his world, to sacrifice his beloved son to atone sins of the world.
“Without the death and resurrection of Christ, Christianity would not be established and that is why the death of Jesus must be key to Christians,” Rt Rev Tong said.
He noted that Christians’ belief in Christ should keep them away from fear and unnecessary anxiety.
The Anglican Bishop said: “We cannot go with the old yeast; we must go with the new yeast. We must put away the old and move with the new,” and emphasised, “We must act with confidence, knowing the power in Christ.”
He said a Christian’s life must reflect newness in Christ always, by pursuing peace, sharing love, and serving as vessel for the work and kingdom of Christ.
He reminded the congregation that they were to evangelize to draw people to Christ as assignment bestowed on every Christian.
“Live lives of living hope and not destructive lives, by building relationships with humans and with nature,” Rt Ren Tong said.
