Odomase, (Bono), April 18, GNA – Madam Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, a philanthropist has presented educational materials to support the conduct of the mock examination for the 2026 candidates of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Sunyani West Municipality.
She presented the items, comprising about 2,000 mathematical sets, and a set of mock examination questions and answer booklets to the Sunyani West Municipal Directorate of Education.
Speaking at a short ceremony at Odomase, Madam Dwumah, a parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Election 2024, explained that the gesture was to adequately prepare the about 2,000 candidates for the BECE, expected to commence in May, this year.
Madam Dwumah told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on the sidelines of the event that the presentation followed her engagement with the Municipal Directorate of Education four years ago.
“The directorate at the time lacked the required resources to organise the structured mock examinations for the BECE candidates in public schools,” adding that this situation led her to promise to bridge a critical gap in exam preparation.”.
Madam Dwumah said: “Over the years, it has grown stronger, and this year’s edition is even bigger, with more people coming on board to support the initiative.
She called on individuals and organisations to extend similar support,to schools, especially to those in rural communities.
She said that assistance should not be limited to only BECE-related interventions, noting that schools required different forms of support, and urged stakeholders to contribute to improve educational outcomes in the municipality.
Mr Issah Baffoe, the Sunyani West Municipal Director of Education who received the materials thanked the philanthropist for the gesture saying that the materials would greatly impact on the candidates, adding that the mock examinations provided the candidates a clearer understanding of the BECE.
“The mock exams will broaden candidates’ perspectives and adequately prepare them for the BECE,” he stated.
