Accra, April 24, GNA – Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs) across the country have been urged to submit nominations for the eighth edition of the SME Ghana Awards, to be held later this year.
The awards, organised by SME Grow Ghana and sponsored by MTN Ghana, is on the theme: “Empowering SMEs to Scale Beyond Borders through Innovation, Resilience, and Digital Solutions.”
Launched Thursday in Accra, this year’s awards aim to spotlight and celebrate promising indigenous (SMEs) that are leveraging innovation, embracing digital transformation and demonstrating resilience in a competitive and globalised marketplace.
“SMEs remain the backbone of Ghana’s economy, contributing significantly to employment, industrial growth and economic diversification,” Mr Kwesi Ofori Jnr, the Executive Director, SME GrowAfrica, said.
“However, many face persistent challenges in accessing markets, finance and technology needed to scale.”
“The MTN SME Ghana Awards 2025 seeks to bridge this gap by recognising excellence, providing visibility and connecting SMEs to growth opportunities beyond local markets.”
Mr Ofori Jnr emphasised the organisation’s commitment to SME development, adding: “At SME GrowAfrica, we believe that SMEs are not just participants in the economy; they are drivers of innovation and transformation.”
“Through this initiative, we are creating a platform that empowers businesses to harness digital solutions, build resilience and compete globally.”
He said the scheme, among other things, sought to equip SMEs with the tools, knowledge and networks required to transition from local success stories to regional and global players.
The Executive Director encouraged businesses to take advantage of the opportunity to scale, innovate and expand beyond borders.
The awards will feature categories including Agribusiness, Manufacturing, Trade, Services and Digital Innovation.
“Participating businesses will undergo a rigorous selection process, field assessment, jury interview, quantitative and qualitative processes to arrive at the final shortlisting of SMEs for the awards ceremony,” a press release from the company said.
Winners and finalists will benefit from business development support, access to strategic partnerships, digital tools and potential investment.
The initiative aligns with Ghana’s agenda of promoting entrepreneurship, industrialisation and export-led growth.
Since its inception in 2013, SME GrowAfrica has supported the growth journey of many outstanding businesses through recognition, exposure, and partnerships.
