Akatsi (V/R), April 30, GNA — Superintendent Ernest Kodjo Dokounon, the new Akatsi South Municipal Police Commander, has appealed to stakeholders to support the Police in combating crime and strengthening law enforcement in the area.

He emphasised that collective responsibility, intelligence sharing, and community cooperation are critical to sustaining peace and security for socio-economic development.

Superintendent Dokounon made the appeal during the First Ordinary Meeting of the Third Session of the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly held in Akatsi on Wednesday, April 29.

He noted that despite operational challenges, the Police remain resolute in fighting crime to safeguard lives and property and create a conducive environment for economic activities.

“We are committed to intensifying our operations, but we cannot do it alone. We need the support of residents, traditional authorities, businesses and all stakeholders to provide timely information and collaborate with us,” he said.

He added that visible policing, night patrols, and intelligence-led operations would be strengthened to deter criminal activities and reassure the public.

Superintendent Dokounon urged the public to volunteer for credible information and avoid shielding criminals, stressing that security is a shared responsibility built on trust and cooperation.

Touching on the general security situation, Mr Daniel Dagba, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South, described it as largely stable, despite isolated incidents of robbery and other crimes that have raised concerns among residents and businesses.

He said the Municipal Security Council had intensified collaboration with the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to address emerging threats.

Mr Edward Doe Adade, Assembly Member for Tatorme Fiato Electoral Area, urged the new Commander to remain focused and not be distracted by negative comments, stressing the importance of strong leadership in maintaining law and order.

Both the Police Commander and the MCE assured residents of sustained efforts to maintain peace and security to support development in the municipality.
