Kuffuor Camp, (Bono), April 18, GNA – Mr Seid Mubarak, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East, has presented 50 bags of cement and trip of sand to support the construction of a Basic School at Kuffuor Camp, in the constituency.
Nana Owusu Afriyie, the Chief of Kuffuor Camp, a farming community, initiated the project which has a creche, kindergarten and Lower Primary as well as offices and a library.
Speaking at a short ceremony at Kuffuor Camp, Mr Mubarak said he was dedicated to improving educational facilities, and thereby creating a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning in the constituency.
He advised the community members to support the execution of the project and commended the chief for the initiative.
Nana Afriyie explained that the community required a Basic School, worrying that school children walked distances to attend school at Atronie, the nearest town in the area.
He said because the school children walked along the Sunyani-Atronie Road, their lives were endangered as the community recorded some pedestrian knockdowns.
Nana Afriyie recollected a sad incident where a vehicle knocked down one of the school children on their way back home from Atronie.
He called for support towards the execution of the basic school projects.
He said the construction work had reached the window level and appealed to the government, non-government organisations, and corporate bodies and philanthropists to come to their aid.
He thanked the MP for the assistance.
