Iran says no new round of talks with the US is planned

Tehran, April 20, (dpa/GNA) – Iran has no plans for a new round of negotiations with the United States, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday.

“No decision has been taken in this regard,” spokesman Esmail Baghai told a press conference in Tehran.

A ceasefire between Iran, the United States and Israel that took effect on April 8 is due to expire on Wednesday, with no clarity over the next steps.

President Donald Trump said on Sunday that US representatives, would arrive in Islamabad on Monday evening for further talks.

Marathon negotiations between Iran and the US held in Islamabad on April 11, ended without a deal to end the war, with two sides unable to reconcile differences over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear programme.
