Ho, April 7, GNA – The Standing Committee of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) has given approval to the Church’s Choristers to wear traditional attire or mufti in the month of November only, every year.

It has therefore directed all Presbyteries, Districts, Zones, and local congregations of Church Choirs to implement the directive effective November, this year.

The directive was contained in a letter with the headline “Approval for church choristers to wear traditional attire or mufti in November”

The letter dated March 25th, 2026, and signed by Reverend Dr Lawson Kwaku Dzanku Clerk of the General Assembly of the Church was addressed to all Presbytery Moderators of the Church.

It was also copied to the National Music Director of the Church, The Facilitator of the National Church Choirs Union (NCCU), Secretary General of the NCCU and the Ghana News Agency.

“After careful deliberation, approval has been given for Church Choristers across the Church to wear traditional attire or mufti in the month of November only,” the letter stated.

It noted that this was so because November marked the heritage or birth month of the church.

The letter continued that the approved black and white worn with the official choir gown remained the official and standard dress code for the Church Choir during regular worship services.

It said the wearing of traditional attire or mufti shall apply only in the month of November and that such attire should be decent and appropriate for Christian worship and should reflect the dignity and order of the Church.

The letter asked the leadership of the Church Choir at all levels to ensure orderliness and uniformity and proper guidance in the implementation of the directive.
