Energy Commission certifies 151 personnel within Western and Central Regions

Takoradi, April 25, GNA – The Energy Commission has successfully certified151 persons for industrial, commercial, domestic and inspection activities within the energy sector.  

At the 24th Electrical Wiring Certification and Awards ceremony in Takoradi for the persons drawn from Western and Central Regions, they were entreated to commit to safety to avoid fires and electrocutions and ensure integrity and excellence in their service delivery to the nation.  

The event was held under the theme: “Training Today’s Youth, Certifying Tomorrow’s Electrical Experts”. 

Mr. Adolf Nii Larte, Engineer and the Manager of the Ghana Energy Commission, said the annual examinations and certification ensured certify professional electricians across the country who would work in conformity with regulatory requirement.  

The examination, since 2013, had hosted 24 certification ceremonies, and turned out 18,000 certified professional electricians. 

He explained that the commission has also introduced modern systems to improve upon accessibility, including digital registration platforms and mobile applications to make the certification process easier for applicants 

The Manager of the Energy Commission said, the processes also helped professionals to advance in higher career pathways and development.  

He noted the need for more women in the Energy sector to drive inclusiveness… “the Commission has a special programme for female apprentices, and I will call on you to help us to inform the women out there to take advantage of the programme”.  

Madam Patricia Amissah, the Operational Manager for the National Youth Employment Agency called on them to avoid using inferior and unapproved materials for clients. 

She noted that only with the right attitude towards work that they could successfully progress on that career path and encouraged them to be more discipline. 

Dr. Emmanuel Payne, Engineer at the Takoradi Technical University who chaired the ceremony called on them to ensure continuous learning to become abreast with current happenings in the energy sector for efficient and effective service delivery to customers. 

He also told them, “Don’t cheat or intimidate your clients with unruly behaviours if you have to establish yourself as a credible professional in this sector”. 

Mr. Amponsah Jesse, The Best Industrial Candidate commended the Energy Commission for the initiative and encouraged his colleagues to remain determined and overcome challenges in pursuit of success.
