Easter season: Pastor Ayamga urges Christians to eschew sinful pleasures, worldliness

By Dennis Peprah

Ayakomaso (Bono), April 3, GNA-Pastor Edmund Ayamga, the Middle-Belt Zonal Youth Coordinator of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) has urged Christian to endeavour to stay away from sinful pleasures and worldliness, before, during and even beyond the festive season.

He advised that: “We must wear the true identity of a Christian by striving to choose holiness over pleasure.”

Pastor Ayamga gave the advice when he delivered a sermon on the topic: “No cross, no commitment, no crown,” of the Youth Division of the 2026 Global Easter Retreat of the Deeper Life Bible Church, underway at Ayakomaso, near Nsoatre in the Sunyani West Municipality.

Hundreds of congregants comprising youth, children and adults, drawn from the various divisions, districts and locations of the church are attending the five-day Easter Retreat on the theme: “The Glory of Christ Resurrection.”

The retreat offers an opportunity for the congregants to listen to live sermons of Pastor Dr William F Kumuyi, the Founder and General Superintendent of the DCLM from the church headquarters in Nigeria via satellite.

Pastor Ayamga referenced Romans Chapter 12:1-2, emphasising that sacrifice, discipline and self-control remained the pillars of Christianity, saying that until Christians build and live by those traits, it would be difficult for them to reject sin.

He said Christianity was a way of life, and urged the congregants to allow the teachings and the doctrines of their bible to shape their lives and to build strong spiritual lives.

Pastor Ayamga concluded his sermon by urging the youth to remain focus and be consistent in prayer, study their bibles and strive for academic excellence.

He referenced Luke Chapter 9:23, and urged the youth to eschew acts of immorality and  related earthly pleasures that could jeopardise their spiritual life and future successes.
