Sunyani, (Bono), April 16, GNA-The Bonoman Institute has inaugurated a 10-member Advisory Board to provide strategic guidance in promoting cultural preservation, research, education, and regional development.
Founded in 2019, the institute focuses on documentation, research, and promotion of the education, youth empowerment and community transformation and the heritage of the Bono people.
Chaired by Professor Richardson Addai-Mununkum, Associate Professor of Curriculum and Pedagogy, University of Education, Winneba, the Board would strengthen partnerships, guide policy alignment, and support fundraising activities to push the school-based Bono Twi Language Pilot Project as well as the Bono Literacy Programme.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Sunyani, Mr Francis Kwaku Ansu Gyabaah, the Founder and President of the Institute, said the Board represented “a beacon of expertise, experience, and strategic insight to help the young organization navigate challenges and expand its impact”.
He noted that the institute relied heavily on individual benevolence for funding and appealed for logistical support, like office equipment as well as funding, and partnerships to sustain its activities.
Professor Addai-Mununkum expressed appreciation to the institute for the support reposed in them and pledged work in diligence to advance the Bono language and the growth and development of education.
Other Board members comprise Nana Saa Gyamfuaa, the Queenmother of Anyima and a member of the Council of State, Vice Chairperson, Barima Dr Adjei-Henneh Aframfo, the Atimphene (sub-chief) of the Mpuasu-Japekrom Traditional Area, secretary.
The rest of the members were Mr Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, a former Deputy Attorney-General, Sasraku Sradaa I, the Adontenhemaa (sub-queen) of the Dormaa Aboabo Number Four and Nana Asamoah Kumtwie I, the Chief of Nseseresu/Mansen and the Manwerehene (sub-chief) of the Dormaa Traditional Area.
Other members were Mr Ameyaw Solomon, a businessman, Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Anyimadu, a former Clerk of Parliament and Miss Joyce Gyedu, member, a United Kingdom-based health administrator, Mr Francis Kwaku Ansu Gyabaa, the founder and president of the Bonoman Institute.
The inauguration was attended by the Most Reverend Matthew Kwaku Gyamfi, the Bishop of the Sunyani Diocese and President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference (GCBC), Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II, the Paramount Chief of the Drobo Traditional Area and the Vice President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs.
