Armah-Buah applauds Mantrac Ghana for women involvement in the sector

Ewusijoe (WR) April 2, GNA – Mr. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources has applauded Mantrac Ghana for deliberately involving women in such high standard engineering set up. 

The Minister was also marvelled at the level of precision, commitment to international standards, quality controls mechanism, training and retooling centres and the significant contributions the company was making in the construction, mining, energy and the marine sector.  

Mr. Armah-Buah,  said this during a facility tour to learn at first hand the operations of the company in Ghana which has branches in Kumasi, Tarkwa, Accra and Takoradi.  

The tour created an opportunity also for the Western Regional Minister,  Mr. Joseph Nelson,  Madam Dorcas Affotey, deputy minister of Transport, Engineer Kenneth Ashigbey, CEO of the Chamber of Mines and prominent chiefs of the Ahanta area to learn more about the company ,not just as a supplier but as key investor in the human capital training for knowledge transfer and indigenisation of the sector . 

Mantrac Ghana, since coming into Ghana in 1937 has transformed from supplying equipment to the mining sector by establishing a wide class repair, training and refabricating among other advisory services.  

The lands minister said the mining sector was the heartbeat of Ghana’s economy and thus would consolidate the relationship with the company. 

He said, “your training sector will be the next stop to train our cooperative miners as the country’s strives to improve upon responsible mining and advance on safety and sustainability.” 

Mr. Anthony Eghan, the National Product Support Sales Manager, Mantrac Ghana said the company which relocated to the Ewusijoe  enclave in 2018 has refurbished 6000 components.  

He said, the 770million dollar investment was among the 17 recognised caterpillar accredited facilities worldwide.  

In the Western Region, the company employed 200 staff and 800 staff nationwide.  

Mr. Eghan said, the state-of-the-art component rebuilding facility boast of 10,000m2 workshop, 2,500m2 testing facility and specialist equipment centre to maintain global caterpillar standards for customers. 

The facility has a global standards parts distribution centre with 5,000m2 warehouse for territorial stocking base and an exclusive bonded parts warehouse outfit.  

Mr. Pierre Lambert Hill, Managing Director, Mantrac Ghana said the company’s objective learning, education and culture ensure that 97 percent of Ghanaians were fully involved in their operations enhancing inclusion and knowledge and skills transfer.  

He said, Mantrac Ghana, had been a part of Ghana many years ago contributing to the built environment, industrial growth and human capital development.  

“We see ourselves as development partners and owe it a duty to continue our best practices by providing world class support in Ghana and the sub region” he added. 

Mr. Joseph Nelson, Western Regional Minister pledged the Coordinating Council support to business growth in the region.
