Accra, March 24, GNA – Women in Leadership International (WILI) has held a fundraising event to mobilise resources to sustain scholarships, health outreach, and leadership programmes for women and girls.
This forms part of its 10th anniversary activities.
The event, which coincided with International Women’s Day, brought together women from diverse backgrounds to interact, network and reflect on the organisation’s mission and vision.
Clad in the organisation’s orange and white colours, participants engaged in meaningful discussions and shared experiences in an atmosphere of solidarity and purpose.
The fundraiser was anchored on the International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain,” emphasising that collective investment and support among women can drive shared growth and advancement.
Over the past decade, WILI has built a strong community focused on empowering women through leadership development, advocacy and impactful programmes.
Its initiatives include support for women and young girls, scholarship opportunities for vulnerable but brilliant individuals, and health-focused campaigns, including assistance for cancer patients.
Organisers indicated that proceeds from the event would be used to sustain and expand these initiatives to reach more beneficiaries.
The fundraiser marks the beginning of a series of activities commemorating a decade of impact, ahead of a grand Gala and Awards event to honour women who have made significant contributions to leadership and community development.
Mrs Mercy Osei Konadu Hammah, Country Director of WILI, highlighted the organisation’s achievements over the years and outlined plans to deepen its impact.
Madam Georgina Efua Sagoe, a Social Worker at the Central Adoption Authority of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and guest speaker, urged the group to comply with domestic and international regulations governing their operations.
Rev Dr Nanayaa Owusu-Prempeh, Founder and President-General of WILI, encouraged members to strengthen collaboration and sustain initiatives that promote women’s empowerment.
WILI continues to position itself as a movement committed to building confident and empowered women who lead with purpose and create lasting change in their communities.
