Prampram, March 07, GNA – The Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NiPDA), in collaboration with the Ningo-Prampram District Education Directorate, has organised a parade involving 20 selected schools in the district, to mark Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebration.

The celebration, held on the theme: “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” brought together 640 participants made up of 600 students and 40 teachers, from both public and private schools in the district.

The two-hour parade was attended by dignitaries, traditional and religious leaders, assembly members, and other stakeholders.

Ms Solace Osei Appiah, the Ningo-Prampram District Education Director, said the celebration provided an opportunity to reflect on the resilience and determination of the nation’s forebears who fought tirelessly for Ghana’s independence.

She said the theme of the celebration resonated strongly within the education sector, adding that education remained the bedrock of national development and the surest path to prosperity.

Ms Appiah expressed appreciation to stakeholders, including teachers, parents, traditional leaders, religious bodies and development partners, for their continued support in educating young people and equipping them with employable skills.

She emphasised that empowering young people with relevant skills, positive values, and opportunities would position them to compete effectively on the global stage.

Ms Appiah urged students in the district to remain disciplined and focused on their studies to achieve their future aspirations.

Mr Raphael Uriel Nartey, the Ningo-Prampram District Chief Executive (DCE), said the celebration also served as a reminder of the collective responsibility of citizens in sustaining and advancing Ghana’s development agenda.

He noted that prosperity could not be achieved by chance but must be built through discipline, innovation, accountability and hard work, stressing that hope would be restored when citizens experienced improved leadership, economic opportunities and justice in national institutions.

He added that the district assembly remained committed to strengthening local governance, improving education and healthcare, and promoting local economic development through sectors such as agriculture and fisheries.

Mr Nartey commended teachers for preparing the students to participate in the parade, and presented a special award to Miss Blessing Dasinor, a six-year-old Kindergarten Two pupil of Prampram D/A Basic School “A,” for her impressive marching performance during the parade.

All participating schools were presented with certificates of participation after the march past.
