Bibiani (WN/R), March 04, GNA – Mr Bright Asamoah Brefo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, and Mr Sebastian Obeng, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, have officially launched activities to mark the 69th Independence Day Celebration at Bibiani.
The celebration is being held with the theme: “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.”
Speaking at the launch of the week-long activities, the MP emphasised the need to invest in and rebrand the Independence Day Celebration to drive national progress.
He noted that the celebration was just a day’s event, however, the new format expanded it to a week of fun, culture, and growth-boosting activities.
Mr Brefo pledged to push for the Bibiani Independence Day Celebration to be as grand as the Kwahu Easter festivities to help open the area to tourists.
“The week-long celebration aims to turn Bibiani into a vibrant hub during the Independence festivities, boosting local pride and patriotism among residents,” he added.
On his part, the MCE also assured residents and visitors of adequate security throughout the celebration.
He stated that extensive security measures had been put in place to ensure a peaceful atmosphere and successful event before, during, and after the 69th Independence Day Celebration in Bibiani.
“Our brothers and sisters should not think that Sefwi is a no-go area. Bibiani is a peaceful town and welcoming; so, everyone should feel free to come and celebrate with us,” he noted.
Mr Obeng used the occasion to advise the youth of the area to stay away from drugs and other harmful substances during the festivities.
He said: “While we are celebrating and having fun, it does not mean we should indulge in drug abuse, so let us celebrate responsibly and make this event memorable for the right reasons.”
Some of the activities lined up include a Cultural Heritage Day and Old School Night Dance, clean-up exercise, youth empowerment and institutional gala and a Waakye Party,
Others are a boxing night, Independence Day parade and carnival and a mega concert among others.
