Italy evacuates it’s citizens from Middle East

Rome, March 2, (dpa/GNA) – A charter flight with 127 Italians on board, took off from the Omani capital Muscat for home, amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Foreign Ministry in Rome said on Monday.

The people were stuck in Oman or had previously been brought there from Dubai, with the support of the Italian authorities.

The Foreign Ministry also announced that embassies and consulates in the Gulf region, were working to bring more compatriots to airports that could still be reached.

Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said tens of thousands of Italians, whether holidaymakers or residents of the countries, are currently in the Gulf region.

He said they should seek safety until they can leave the country they are in.
