Iran fills defence post after minister killed in crash

Tehran, March 2, (dpa/GNA) – Iran’s president has appointed an acting defence minister, following the death of his predecessor, state news agency IRNA reported on Monday.

President Masoud Pezeshkian has tasked Majid Ebn-ol-Reza, a brigadier general in the powerful Revolutionary Guards, with temporarily leading the ministry.

Defence minister Aziz Nasirzadeh, was killed in the opening salvo of airstrikes on Iran by the US and Israel.
