ICU-Ghana honored for promoting labour rights 

Accra, March 11, GNA – The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU), Ghana has been celebrated for its outstanding contribution to Ghana’s socio-economic development, through the promotion and sustained advocacy for labour rights and industrial harmony. 

The Union was selected as one of Ghana’s most distinguished contributors to national development, culminating in the conferment of the honour at a soiree in Accra, organized by the Business Executive at the 3rd Ghana Development Awards. 

The awards brought together eminent personalities from government, diplomatic missions, business, and industry across Africa, a statement from the Union copied to the Ghana News Agency has said. 

“ICU-Ghana’s award was in recognition of its outstanding contribution to labour rights and industrial harmony for national development, presented to Mr Morgan Ayawine, the General Secretary, ICU-Ghana in the form of a medal, plaque and a certificate,” it said. 

In a citation, the Organizers acknowledged the ICU, Ghana’s-exceptional leadership, innovation, partnership, and enduring commitment to advancing Ghana’s development, inspiring resilience, supporting socio-economic recovery, and sustaining national progress. 

‎Mr Ayawine in response said “The Union is deeply humbled by this recognition and expresses its sincere appreciation to the organizers of the award for this honour.” 

“This award serves as both an inspiration and a springboard, propelling the Union to greater heights in its advocacy for labour, business, and industry.  

“We dedicate this award to the Management, Staff, and the entire membership of ICU-Ghana and Ghanaian workers in general,” he said.
