Atebubu, (Bono East) March 05, GNA – Miss Georgette Ofori-Agyapong, an old student of the Jesus Mary Joseph School, a catholic-Indian private school at Atebubu is representing the Bono East Region for the 2026 President’s Award, ahead of the 69th Independence anniversary.
The Award was instituted to recognise and celebrate academic excellence among students in the country.
It is presented to students who excel in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) with the aim of encouraging academic achievement and personal development.
Ms Ofori-Agyapong obtained aggregate seven in the BECE was selected and passed the interview at the regional level to represent Bono East, participating in the award, underway at the Kumasi Wesley Girls Senior High School.
Mrs Mariam Kusi, her mother told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Atebubu that she was proud of her daughter.
She said her prayers were that God would guide and protect Ofori-Agyapong to grow and become a national asset.
Mrs Kusi, a teacher at the Atebubu Seventh Day Adventist Junior High School advised families to guide and monitor the movements of their girls, drawing them closer and always listening to their concerns and challenges.
In another interview, Mr Isaac Badu, the Atebubu/Amantin Municipal Director of Education said Ms Ofori-Agyapong had made Atebubu and the entire Bono East Region proud.
“It’s a great achievement for the Municipality to produce the President’s BECE award nominee”, he stated, and urged students in the area to remain studious and well-mannered.
