Takoradi, March 11, GNA – Madam Emelia Arthur, the Member of Parliament for Shama, has encouraged women to remain resilient and continue breaking barriers in their professional journeys.
She acknowledged that women often faced challenges not only in their homes but also the workplace…” I urged you not to allow such obstacles to limit your ambitions.”
Madam Arthur was speaking at the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation Executive Brunch Panel in Accra as part of activities marking International Women’s Day.
The event formed part of the corporation’s month-long celebration under the theme “Give to Gain – A Month of Leadership,” an initiative aimed at amplifying women’s voices, promoting mentorship, and strengthening leadership among female staff.
She spoke on the topic: “Resilience and Breaking Barriers,”.
The MP for Shama, also the Minister for Fisheries emphasised that professional competence was not determined by gender and encouraged women to believe in their abilities and confidently pursue leadership opportunities in their respective fields.
She advised women to embrace their humanity and avoid placing unrealistic expectations on themselves and stressed the importance of solidarity among women, noting that mentorship and collaboration were critical to accelerating progress in the workplace.
She, therefore encouraged the women of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation to remain determined and committed to excellence as they continued contributing to national development.
