Bia East District marks 69th independence with cultural display

Sefwi-Adabokrom (WN/R), March 7, GNA – The Bia East District Assembly in collaboration with the District Education Directorate, has marked Ghana’s 69th Independence Anniversary with cultural display for public and private schools in the area.   

The event which was on the theme: “Building Prosperity, Fostering Hope,” featured activities such as dance, drumming, and poetry recitals.  

Mr Oppong Kwadwo Ansu, the Bia East District Director of Education, said independence was not only about political freedom, but a call on all to help build a prosperous nation. 

He said the display would help preserve the country’s culture, noting that education extended beyond the classroom, and commended teachers and parents towards the preparation for the event. 

He stated that the District Education Directorate was committed in providing an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning for improved educational outcomes in the area.  

At the end of the event, R/C Primary came first with 86 points, English and Arabic school placed second with 82 points, with D/A Junior High School also placing third with 79 points. 

Mr Richard Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for Bia East, lauded the cultural display event, saying it would help to promote Ghana’s cultural heritage among the youth. 

He announced that the government had planned to complete the Agenda 111 Project in the area, and that plans were also advanced to upgrade the Adabokrom clinic, to a polyclinic to improve upon healthcare delivery in the area. 

On roads, Mr Acheampong indicated that the government was committed to improving the road network in the area, saying the Bediako Junction to Camp Junction stretch had already been awarded on contract under the Big Push programme.  

He stated that work was progressing steadily on the  Adabokrom to Camp 15 Junction Road. 

He also announced plans to construct six new classroom blocks within the district at Suma Nyame Bekyere, Camp 15 Islamic Primary, Akwaabengkrom school, Abotareye, Baamoah, and kaase Islamic school.
