Berekum West MP implores community members to contribute to meaningful development

By Benjamin Asomah, GNA

Jinijini, (Bono), March 07, GNA – Mr Dickson Kyere Duah, the Berekum West Member of Parliament (MP) in the Bono Region, has implored the community members to bury their political differences and contribute to progressive development of the area.

The MP gave the advice when he addressed the opening session of a quiz competition to mark the 69th independence anniversary celebration of Ghana, at Jinijini, the constituency capital.

The competition was attended by chiefs and queens, political parties, religious leaders, personnel from   security agencies, and students.

Mr Duah said the celebration offered the opportunity for the community members to reflect and rethink how they could come together and contribute their quota towards accelerated development, irrespective of their political inclination.

He said as the government did more to advance sustainable development, it was therefore imperative for everybody to also contribute his/her widow’s mite, saying that advancing development remained shared responsibility.

Mr Duah said he remained dedicated to bringing the development of the area to the next level, saying that the on-going construction of a Junior High School block with a library at Amankokwaa, as well as the Adom Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound would soon be completed and handed over for use.

He said the drilling of boreholes at Koraaso and other farming communities as well as the reshaping of some deplorable roads in the area would all be completed for the communities.

Mr Duah later presented industrial machines and hairdressing equipment to 50 beneficiaries of the National Apprenticeship Programme to facilitate their training.

Mr Collins Asomah, the Berekum West District Chief Executive, said the Assembly was also working to ensure that construction works resume on abandoned development projects initiated by the previous administration.

He advised the NAP beneficiaries to take their training seriously.
