Believe in yourselves and nurture the culture of patriotism – Adaklu DCE

By Emmanuel Nyatsikor, GNA

Adaklu Waya (V/R), March 7, GNA – Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE) has called on Ghanaians to believe in themselves, their abilities and potentials and nurture the culture of hard work and patriotism.

He told them not to dwell on their past achievements and ignored what they should do today to improve their living standards and that of posterity.

Mr Ameko made the call during a parade by school children at Adaklu Waya, to mark the country’s 69th anniversary celebration on the theme: “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.”

Mr Ameko said their forebears lifted the country onto its feet so that they could walk themselves into dignity and self-rule.

He said the day was about aspiration anchored in credibility, so with unity and determination, citizens could restore hope and create a thriving nation for all.

The DCE noted that the theme for the celebration created the trajectory in which the government was building prosperity which could be felt in jobs, reduction in prices of goods and a massive construction of Roads.

He said that the Adaklu District Assembly was also working diligently to improve the livelihoods of the people by investing heavily in educational infrastructure and desks, supported farmers with agricultural inputs and modern techniques to boost agriculture, enhancement of roads, water, sanitation and healthcare.

Mr Ameko who is also the Dean of Volta Region Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs), said the Assembly was committed to contributing to national development through initiatives that would drive economic growth, improve education and healthcare.

He told the people that most of the roads in the district had been awarded for reconstruction and bintumen surfacing, adding that work was progressing steadily on the roads.

Mr Ameko entreated citizens of the district to shed their political coloration and work together to create a prosperous country where everybody would have access to quality education, healthcare and economic opportunities.

He assured the people that his administration would strengthen public financial management and community durbars “so that trust rises in my tenure of office and when people see fairness, hope will follow.”

“This balance of aspiration with credibility fits President John Mahama’s tested leadership and fits the character of Adaklu,” he stated.

The DCE advised students to be studious, as there was no substitute for hardwork, adding that their success in their academic pursuits and life in general was contingent on their willingness to embrace difficult tasks and discipline.

Mr Ameko entreated them to desist from deviant acts that could derail the foundations of the investments government was making in the education sector to churn out graduates, who would handle all sectors of the country’s economy for sustainable development.

“Government is determined to restore hope to all Ghanaians not by poetry and slogans alone but by visible development projects and initiatives.

“When Ghana leads with pragmatism and Adaklu delivers with discipline, patriotism, prosperity spreads and hope sticks,” he added.

The contingent at the parade was made up of Adaklu Waya E.P. Basic School and Participants of Adaklu Waya Global Evangelical Church Child Development Centre and present were chiefs and queens of the area.
