Assemblies Of God holds thanksgiving service for immigration Chief

Accra, March 15, GNA – The Assemblies of God, Ghana has held a thanksgiving service in honour of Mr Samuel Amadu Basentale, the Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service.

The service, held at the United Assembly of God Church, brought together members of the church, officers of the Ghana Immigration Service, family members and well-wishers to thank God and pray for the leadership of the Service.

In a sermon, Rev Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Ghana Immigration Service, called on leaders to adopt servant leadership to transform the institutions they lead.

He said leaders must prioritise the needs of their followers and empower them to achieve their aspirations while contributing their quota to the growth of the organisations they serve.

Rev Wengam noted that leadership was not merely about authority but about service, humility and responsibility.

He reminded the congregation that the best leadership model was servant leadership as demonstrated by Jesus Christ, referencing the biblical account in John Chapter 13.

The General Superintendent urged leaders to embrace values that promote unity, integrity and institutional growth.

Members of the Assemblies of God Executive Presbytery, District Pastors and the Chaplain of the Ghana Immigration Service assisted Rev Wengam to officiate the service.

Special prayers were offered for Mr Basentale, the directorates and the entire Ghana Immigration Service to guide the leadership of the institution.

In response, Mr Basentale expressed gratitude to God for his elevation to the position of Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service.

He also thanked the Assemblies of God, Ghana for nurturing him spiritually and supporting him throughout his journey to public service.

Mr Basentale said the prayers and encouragement from the church would inspire him to serve the nation with dedication and integrity.

The thanksgiving service formed part of activities to celebrate his appointment and seek divine guidance for his leadership of the Ghana Immigration Service.
