Sege, March 08, GNA – The Ada West District recorded zero maternal and neonatal deaths in 2025, following deliberate investments in healthcare delivery, Mr Mordjifa Tanihu Jerry John Foreigner Mills-Nkrumah, the District Chief Executive (DCE), has disclosed.

Speaking at the district’s 69th Independence Day celebration parade at Sege, he said the achievement reflected the district’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services and protecting the lives of mothers and newborns.

“That means mothers returned home safely and newborns were given a chance to live,” he said.

He noted that two new Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds had been constructed, to improve access to health care.

Mr Mills-Nkrumah added that the district had also completed its first incinerator at the Sege Polyclinic to enhance medical waste management and another one at Anyamam, which would be completed in a few weeks.

He added that five motorbikes were procured by the Member of Parliament for Sege Constituency to improve health outreach services.

The DCE also disclosed that Ada West had improved from a moderately performing district to a highly performing district under the National Holistic Health Assessment.
