Agbozume (VR) Feb.25, GNA – The Somè Senior High School (SOSEC) Old Students Association, in collaboration with the school administration, is set to launch the school’s 60th anniversary on Friday, February 27, 2026.
The much anticipated anniversary launch has been scheduled to take place from Wednesday, February 25 to Friday 27, with several events to take place at the school premises in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region.
Mr Noble Kumawu, the Chairman of the 60th anniversary Planning Committee and Management of the school, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the theme of the occasion is “Sixty Years of Educational Excellent, Overcoming Challenges, And the Role of the Stakeholder.”
He said notable dignitaries to grace the occasion would include Mr Nicholas Kwabla Worklachie, the Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) as the guest Speaker, Prof Rudith Sylvana King, the Vice Dean of students from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as the chairperson, Mr Felix Y. Adjavor as a keynote speaker and Mr Spencer Agbemenu the headmaster of the school.
He indicated that the planning committee and the management of the school have encouraged all past students of the Great Somè Senior High School, parents, and the public to participate in the historic anniversary launch celebration.
Mr Kumawu appealed to all old students to show interest and start mobilising funds at their year group levels to help support a successful programme that would empower and encourage students and teachers to perform better in their academic activities.
“According to what we have put on paper, Old Students Association and the school management, on Wednesday, 25 is scheduled for Educational talk on discipline, and Thursday 26 will be a float through the principal street in and around Agbozume while Saturday, 27 will be the grand launch.”
He noted that the launch would also enable them to lobby for logistics and money for the main anniversary as well as support the school to overcome the several challenges they have faced over the years to enable create comfortable teaching and learning environment for all.
He appealed to the government to support the school’s infrastructural challenges to increase enrollment, among others.
