Kumasi, Feb. 08, GNA – The Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) have congratulated Professor Edward Brenya on his appointment as Head of the Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The groups described the appointment, following his promotion to Professor of Political Science and Public Administration, as exceptional and a clear reflection of his significant contributions to academia and dedicated service to Asanteman and Ghana.
In a press release issued in Kumasi and signed by the Ashanti Regional TEIN Coordinator, Mr Asumah Moro, the organisations said Professor Brenya had been a leading figure within the NDC students’ front in the Ashanti Region, noting that his academic advancement would inspire many young people, particularly members of TEIN.
Mr Moro stated that Prof. Brenya had consistently supported the party, especially during periods in opposition, serving as Patron of TEIN at KNUST and as Research Director for the Ashanti Regional Youth Wing of the NDC.
He said Prof. Brenya’s achievement underscored the value of resilience and commitment in openly serving the party despite challenges.
He therefore encouraged comrades on tertiary campuses to emulate Prof. Brenya’s dedication and loyalty.
Prof. Brenya currently serves as Chairman of the Governing Council of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU).
Mr Moro also expressed appreciation to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for appointing Prof. Brenya to serve on the Education Committee of the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation.
The group further called on the government to recognise Prof. Brenya’s accomplishments and support his continued advancement, particularly within the academic sector.
