Sunyani, (Bono), Feb. 22, GNA – The Council of Bono and Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA) says they are set for the construction of an ultra-modern dialysis centre in Sunyani and to attend to kidney related diseases.
The council is the largest umbrella organisation for the Bono and Ahafo natives, resident in North America. Speaking to the media in an interview in Sunyani, Dr DeGraft Kwafo Gyan, the Chairman of COBAANA, said the association remained dedicated to help tackle the emerging development challenges in the region.
In that regard, he added that the council was preparing for a sod cutting ceremony, to be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the project site in the regional capital.
He explained that execution of the dialysis center had been necessitated due to the rise in kidney-related diseases.
Dr Gyan expressed worry that despite the rising cases of kidney related diseases, there was no major dialysis facility in the two regions.
He said on completion the facility would greatly lessen the economic burdens of families who often transported clients to Kumasi for dialysis.
In another interview, Baffour Owusu Sika Aduomi, the General Secretary of the COBAANA, expressed appreciation to the Sunyani Traditional Council and the Bono Regional Coordinating Council for providing land for the project.
