Araghchi says Khameni is still allive to the best of his knowledge

Washington, Feb 28, (dpa/GNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said on Saturday that to the best of his knowledge, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was still alive after Israel and the United States, launched wide-ranging attacks on Iran.

Speaking from Tehran in a live exclusive interview with US broadcaster NBC News, Araghchi said two commanders had died, but senior officials had survived the joint US-Israeli attacks.

Khamenei is still alive “as far as I know,” Araghchi said. He also said “almost all officials are safe.”

NBC said it had not independently verified the claims. Western media organization have for some time been unable to report directly from Iran.

In the interview, Araghchi criticized the US and Israel for launching the attacks, despite ongoing nuclear negotiations.
