Bonkwaso (Ash), Feb. 20, GNA – The Ahafo Ano South-West district assembly is expanding health facilities as part of efforts to increase access to quality healthcare services in the area.

Mr Abubakar Sedik, the District Chief Executive, who stated this, said improving healthcare delivery was not only a responsibility but a priority to increase patient access to quality healthcare at the grass-root levels.

He was speaking at a ceremony to receive documents on a private maternity home, which had been acquired by the district assembly to upgrade it into a health centre to serve the people of Bonkwaso Number one, and its surrounding communities.

Mr Sedik, said the district assembly was expanding social and health infrastructure through strategic investments in the health and other sectors, to improve the wellbeing of the people.

He said the acquisition and upgrading of the facility would be funded through the District Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF).

Mr Emmanuel Osei Gyamfi, the District Health Administrator, described the move as timely and necessary.

He said the facility when upgraded into a full health center, would not only help reduce the pressure on the existing health facilities but would also bring healthcare delivery closer to the people.
