Cape Coast, Jan. 31, GNA-Voting for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries is underway in Cape Coast.

It started slowly at 0700 hours prompt in the Cape Coast South Constituency at the Friends Garden where 637 delegates have been registered to vote.

So far, it is going on smoothly and peacefully under heavy police protection.

In accordance with the party’s directives, there are no posters or campaign materials of any candidate close to the voting centre.

As promised, the police are enforcing strict security protocols, including checking accreditations and collecting mobiles phones of delegates before they enter the inner perimeter to vote.

By 0802 hours, 68 people had voted as the delegates trickled in at intervals.

Mr Richard Asenso, the Presiding Officer, indicated that the process had been without any challenges and was optimistic it would end the same way.

Madam Caroline Aboagye Awusi, the Cape Coast South Constituency Chairperson who was the first to cast her vote, expressed satisfaction with the process.

She warned against any form trouble during the exercise and called for unity and peace among all factions at the end of the exercise as the party reunites to wrestle power in 2028.

In Cape Coast North, 100 out of 635 registered delegates had cast their votes at 08:46 hours.

Unlike Cape Coast South, the forecourt of the GNAT Hall, the polling centre, was very busy, albeit peaceful under the watchful eyes of dozens of police personnel.

Madam Emelia Nyarko, the Presiding Officer, noted that the exercise had been incident-free and without any technical challenges so far.
