Vote for leadership that dares to act, learn and grow – Sataru

By Daniel Agbesi Latsu

Kadjebi (O/R), Jan. 20, GNA – Mr Abdul Merigah Sataru, the Akan Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on party delegates to support leadership that dares to act, learn and grow, and endorsed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, among the presidential candidate hopefuls, as his preferred choice.

He said Ghana deserved leadership anchored in vision, digital transformation and inclusive growth.

Mr Sataru made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kadjebi, stating that Dr Bawumia had demonstrated commitment, accountability and innovation and, on merit, deserved the opportunity to lead Ghana into its next phase of national transformation.

He said Dr Bawumia’s political journey was driven by conviction rather than convenience, describing him as a leader willing to “carry the pot,” fully aware of the risks involved, in service to the nation.

According to Mr Sataru, Dr Bawumia’s record reflected humility in the face of criticism, focus amid adversity and a consistent commitment to innovation and reform.

Quoting an Akan proverb, he said: “Nia onni hwee, anaa ɔnnyɛ nhwee no, yɛnnka no hwee,” meaning that he who does nothing cannot be blamed for anything.

He noted that Dr Bawumia had not shied away from responsibility, pointing out that he had consistently addressed the nation on economic realities, acknowledged challenges and outlined pathways for recovery and reform.

Mr Sataru said as the NPP prepared for its internal democratic processes and as Ghana looked ahead to future national elections, leadership assessment must go beyond challenges encountered.

“Leaders must also be assessed by the vision they articulate, the innovations they champion and the character they demonstrate under pressure,” he said.
