Washington, Jan 21, (dpa/GNA) – US President Donald Trump, on Wednesday threatened Iran with massive force if there is an attack on him, he told US broadcaster NewsNation.
“The whole country is gonna get blown up,” he said.
If anything happened to him, Trump said he has “very firm instructions. Anything happens, they’re going to wipe them off the face of this earth.”
He was responding to a question about reports that Iran’s leadership had issued a death threat against him.
After Trump’s threats and personal attacks by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, concern is growing about a military escalation in the region. The US president recently came out in favour of regime change in Iran.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, said any aggression against Khamenei would amount to a full-scale war against the Iranian nation.
More than 4,200 demonstrators have been killed in the latest mass protests in Iran, according to activists. The state leadership blames “terrorist elements” as well as its arch-enemies, the United States and Israel, for violence at the mass protests.
