Accra, Jan. 31, GNA – Voting in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary at the Ayawaso Central Constituency (Alajo Presby Park polling centre) began smoothly at 0708 hours on Saturday.
Madam Lydia Anom, the Presiding Officer, said a total of 974 delegates were expected to cast their ballots at there.
She noted that all electoral materials arrived on time, and officials were fully prepared ahead of the commencement of the polls.
The centre has a strong police presence to ensure peaceful, orderly and incident-free exercise.
As at 0635 hours when the Ghana News Agency arrived, the atmosphere was calm and orderly. some delegates were already seated, awaiting the start of voting, while agents of the various candidates were present to monitor the process.
Five aspirants, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr Bryan Acheampong, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, are contesting in the presidential primary.
Nationwide, a total of 211,849 delegates are to vote at 333 polling centres across 276 constituencies, with polls scheduled to open at 0700 hours and close at 1400 hours.
