Kadjebi (O/R), Jan. 31, GNA – Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Primary in the Akan Constituency of the Oti Region, after securing 344 votes out of the 623 valid votes cast.
Dr Bryan Acheampong placed second with 206 votes, while Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong garnered 65 votes. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum obtained six votes, with Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong recording two votes.
Out of a total of 655 accredited delegates expected to vote, 623 valid votes were cast, reflecting a strong turnout in the constituency. A small number of ballots were rejected.
The voting process was generally peaceful and orderly, with party officials and delegates complying with laid-down electoral procedures. Security personnel were on hand to ensure calm at the polling centre throughout the exercise.
Party executives at the constituency level commended delegates for their discipline and commitment to the democratic process, noting that the smooth conduct of the primary underscored party unity and maturity.
The results from Akan Constituency form part of the nationwide NPP Presidential Primary being conducted to select the party’s flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.
