NPP Presidential Primaries: Former Vice President wins massively in Upper East Region

Bolgatanga, Jan. 31, GNA – Provisional results from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Primaries show that former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has won convincingly in the Upper East Region.

Out of the 15 constituencies in the region, the former Vice President lost in only one – the Binduri Constituency, where he polled 120 votes, trailing Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who secured 168 votes, and Dr Bryan Acheampong, who obtained 130 votes.

The results shows that the party’s 2024 Flagbearer polled 4,762 of the 7,858 valid votes cast across the 15 constituencies in the region, representing 60.6 per cent, to beat his four other competitors.

Dr Bryan Acheampong, the former Minister of Food and Agriculture, placed second with 1,741 votes, representing 22.2 per cent, while Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, garnered 1,208 votes, representing 15.4 per cent.

Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, the former Minister of Education, polled 102 votes, representing 1.3 per cent, while Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, the former General Secretary of the NPP, secured 45 votes, representing 0.6 per cent.

The election was peaceful across all voting centres in the region, with no incidents recorded.
