Accra, Jan. 31, GNA – Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has commended the Electoral Commission (EC), the Police and delegates for their conduct and professionalism in the ongoing presidential primary.
He said all five presidential aspirants had assured him of their support to the eventual winner of the primary.
Mr Frimpong made the commendation when he visited the Ayawaso Central Constituency polling centre at Alajo Presby Park to observe the election, where 886 delegates are expected to cast their votes.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, one of the presidential aspirants, reaffirmed his commitment to fostering unity and peace during and after the primary.
He emphasised that internal harmony remained crucial for the NPP to reclaim the presidency in the 2028 election.
Voting is progressing steadily across the country in the NPP presidential primary to elect a new flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Delegates have participated in one of the party’s major internal exercises since its defeat in the 2024 general election.
An estimated 211,000 delegates are involved in the voting, which is taking place in more than 300 polling centres nationwide.
The five aspirants are former Vice‑President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr Bryan Acheampong, former Minister of Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, and businessman Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
Massive security measures have been deployed to ensure a peaceful and credible election, with thousands of police officers stationed at polling centres across the country.
