Nkrankwanta, (Bono), Jan. 27, GNA-Mr Ernest Amankwah, the Dormaa West Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region says the party in the constituency will not tolerate any form of electoral fraud on the Saturday January 31 Presidential Primary.
He emphasised that electoral fraud and vote buying undermined the party’s integrity and credibility, saying that: “We will not tolerate any form of manipulation and influence in the Presidential Primary”.
Mr Amankwah indicated that the NPP was strongly against voting buying and would therefore not allow any of the Presidential hopeful or their supporters to influence the delegates with money or gift on the voting day.
“We aren’t giving in or living any chance for any of the presidential hopefuls to take advantage and unduly exert monetary influences in the elections”, Mr Amankwah added.
The delegates of the largest opposition NPP goes to polls on Saturday January 31 to choose a flagbearer for the Election 2028.
They will decide on the former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Abetifi MP and former Food and Agriculture Minister Dr Bryan Acheampong and Bosomtwe MP and former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.
The rest are former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong and Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkrankwanta, the constituency capital, Mr Amankwah said a total of 323 delegates were expected to cast their ballots.
He explained that the party was arranging buses to pick and transport some of the delegates from eight out of ten electoral areas in the constituency to the voting center and would also provide them with meals.
Mr Amankwah urged the delegates to make informed decisions when they go to polls by critically analysing and assessing the competencies and capabilities of the presidential hopefuls.
He reaffirmed the party’s dedication to ensuring peaceful, free, fair and credible elections and cautioned members of the party to desist from negative acts that had a tendency to undermine the integrity and credibility of the entire electoral processes.
