Goi-Ada (Ada West), Jan. 4, GNA – The Governance and Empowerment Centre, a non-governmental organisation, has treated 70 widows at Goi-Ada in the Ada West District to a Christmas dinner as part of efforts to share love, companionship and joy during the festive season.

The programme brought together widows from the community for an evening of fellowship, food and celebration—an experience many of the beneficiaries described as rare and uplifting.

Madam Abigail Amakie Sebbie, Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, said the initiative was aimed at putting smiles on the faces of widows, stressing that charity must begin at home.

Madam Sebbie, a former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Women’s Organiser for the Sege Constituency and a former Deputy Director and Head of Administration at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the district, explained that the dinner was a maiden event, assuring that it would be expanded in the coming years to benefit more residents.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Madam  Sebbie encouraged the widows to remain hopeful and trust in God despite the challenges they face.

She also advised motorists to exercise caution on the roads and urged the youth to desist from illicit drug use.

Some of the widows expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing the dinner as a blessing and a source of happiness during the festive period.

They prayed for God’s blessings upon the organisation, wishing its management long life and continued success in serving the community.
