Ejisu (Ash) Jan. 08, GNA – Ghanaians have been urged to continue to uphold the tenets of democracy and rule of law to help protect the rights and freedoms of all.

Mr. Augustus Andrew Nana Kwasi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the RLING National Democratic Congress (NDC), who made the call, applauded Ghanaians for working together to sustain the Fourth Republic and strengthening democratic rule in the country.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Ejisu, as Ghana marks the 2026 Constitution Day, he said Ghana had created an enviable image on the African continent as a country entrenching democratic principles, rule of law as well as rights and freedoms of its citizen.

Nana Kwasi pointed out that good governance, political stability, freedom of speech and other positive principles had been possible as a result of the commitment and resolve of the people to chart the path of democracy.

This form of governance had boosted the development of the country in all aspect of life and had also placed the country on top of other countries on the African continent.

He commended late former President Jerry John Rawlings for his boldness and willingness to move Ghana to democratic rule after the military takeover.

The NDC chairman said although there were still some challenges facing the country, the government, through the support of the people would work to address these challenges for the good of all Ghanaians.
