FSOC 001Social Pakistan ArrestPakistan police arrest Muslim man for vandalizing church

Islamabad, Jan 6, (dpa/GNA) – Police in central Pakistan have arrested a Muslim man, after a church was vandalized and copies of the Bible were torn, police said on Tuesday, in another incident targeting religious minorities in the Islamic republic.

The man entered the church in the town of Kot Radhakishan near the eastern city of Lahore overnight, local police officer Amanat Ali told dpa.

The man, apparently motivated by religious prejudices, then tore up copies of the Bible and threw them on the floor before leaving the premises, said Ali, who was interrogating the suspect.

A Christian neighbourhood was ransacked in the same region by a religiously motivated mob of Muslims in 2023, forcing the people to flee their homes in the incident that caused global outrage.
