Sunyani  (Bono), Jan. 26, GNA – Fire gutted a shoe shop at the Sunyani Zongo enclave in the early hours of Monday, causing extensive damages to properties and personal belongings running into thousands of Ghana cedis.

The inferno, eyewitnesses said, occurred around 1200 hours, and was suspected to have started from a wooden store behind, and extended to burn the entire shop, situated along the Zongo one-way.

When the personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) arrived at the scene, the fire had reached a serious dimension, the Ghana News Agency (GNA) learnt.

However, there were no reported casualties, and fire fighters were yet to identify the cause of the outbreak.

During a visit to the scene, the GNA noticed that scores of people had gathered to catch a glimpse, as relations and friends consoled the owner of the shop, only known as Benjamin.
