Takoradi, Jan. 31, GNA – New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in the Takoradi Constituency of the Western Region have voted for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general election.
He polled 462 of the total valid votes to beat his close contender, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who had 96 votes.
Other candidates; Dr Bryan Acheampong garnered 61 votes, Mr Kwabena Agyepong, polled one, and Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum had zero.
Total valid votes cast were 620, out of a total of 665 registered voters, with no rejected or spoilt ballots.
Mr Justice Acquah, the NPP First Vice Chairman for Takoradi Constituency, told journalists after the elections, hailed the peaceful conduct of the process, and said it demonstrated the unity within the party.
He expressed appreciation to the delegates for voting for Dr Bawumia to lead the party in the next general elections.
