Dr Bawumia wins Ayawaso Central Constituency

Accra, Jan. 31, GNA – Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has won the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary at the Ayawaso Central Constituency.

He polled 582 votes to beat his closest contender, Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who garnered 203 votes.

Dr Bryan Acheampong obtained 93 votes, while Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum and Mr Kwabena Agyei Agyepong secured five and two votes, respectively.

Out of 981 expected voters at the constituency, a total of 886 votes were cast, with one rejected ballot.

Following the declaration of the results, supporters of Dr Bawumia erupted in jubilation, singing party songs and chanting slogans.

Nationwide, a total of 211,849 delegates were expected to vote at 333 polling centres across 276 constituencies.

Polls opened at 0700 hours and closed at 1400 hours.

The exercise is to elect a flagbearer to lead the NPP into the 2028 presidential election.
