Consistency and change key for 2026, Archbishop says

By Ernest Nutsugah

Accra, Jan. 1, GNA â€“ Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has urged individuals to take responsibility for the changes they expect in 2026 and beyond.

Delivering the sermon at the 31 December Watchnight Service at the Prayer Cathedral in Accra, he emphasised that people must be willing to “take action” in all aspects of their lives, as positive changes do not occur by mere desire.

“Nothing changes until you effect the change…the changes you expect to see are not automatic; you have a duty and responsibility for the things you want to change. Situations in 2026 will be determined by the changes you make,” he stated.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams explained that the expected changes of 2026 would require personal effort and God’s guidance, adding that “a renewed spirit without a renewed mind is a disaster in waiting.”

Preaching on the theme â€śDeliverance from Evil,” he urged the congregation to pray against “negative outcomes that were not consistent with the plans of God” in the new year.

He noted that the enemy would attempt to undermine consistency when efforts were being made, but individuals must be determined to overcome evil during temptations.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams said “deliverance from evil” should be a daily prayer, adding that the enemy could be defeated through prayer, fasting, forgiveness and other Godly virtues.

He described the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash as “an evil event” which should not happen again and cautioned individuals to put on the “armour of God” as the enemy was “always looking for an opportunity to attack.”

“The armour of God is available, but it will not come to you automatically, you have to put it on…put on the spiritual armour to be able to fight the devil,” he noted.

Touching on spiritual and physical development, Archbishop Duncan-Williams advised individuals to strive to maximise their potential in the new year.

“There should be consistency in 2026; it should not be business as usual…Build your spirit, invest in your spirit. Dreams don’t just happen; it happens when those who dream have the audacity to see it through,” he stated.

Stressing change in attitude and mentality, Archbishop Duncan-Williams encouraged the congregation to strive to make a difference in all endeavours and not return to “old ways.”

“Stop making excuses; don’t allow your circumstances to determine your direction…Align yourself, take action…things don’t change through desire you must take action,” he said, declaring 2026 as “the year of breakthrough.”
